The Physocarpus Summer Wine, 'Physocarpus opulifolious 'Summer Wine, is a new Ninebark that is very neat with compact branching and deeply cut, dark crimson leaves. This plant requires little pruning and looks great in a pot. The pinkish white flowers appear in mid summer. Summer Wine is showy and extremely hardy and is prized as a landscape shrub and as a cut flower.

The Ninebark Center Glow, 'Physocarpus opulifolius 'Center Glow'O, is a new and exciting variety. Similar to 'Diablo', the foliage emerges a yellow-green but matures into bright, deep red that last all season long. With a plant height of 8-10' and a width of 8', the white flowers that bloom in spring add excitement to this shrub. Best to be planted in full sun, 'Center Glow' needs a well drained site. Developed by Dr. Harold Pellet and the University of Minnesota. Use this plant in the landscape as a border or background for perennial or annual flower beds or in foundation plantings of larger buildings. The Center Glow is a fast grower and new shoots can be cut and used in floral arrangements.

The Dwarf Ninebark, Physocarpus opulifolius 'Nana', is a small shrub that can be used as a small hedge plant, foundation plant or in rock gardens. It has white flowers in the spring and has peeling bark that creates winter interest.This dense bushy shrub produces its flowers in late spring. After flowering, seedpods develop that are red and quite ornamental. Plant in full sun to part shade.

The Ninebark 'Dart's Gold', Physocarpus opulifolius 'Dart's Gold', is named for its broad three-lobed golden spring foliage, which turns lime green in the summer. This fine shrub is also notable for its wide arching branches tipped with pink-dusted white flowers. Dart's Gold is a very adaptable deciduous shrub. It will tolerate dry conditions. Place in full sun to light shade.This Ninebark has golden leaves, white flowers, red fruit, papery bark, and is attractive in winter. Rejuvenate by pruning to base in the spring.

The Nugget Ninebark, Physocarpus opulifolius 'Nugget', is a dense compact shrub of low to medium size and texture. Its foliage is a deep golden yellow with a hint of bronze on new growth. Nugget is quick to establish. New growth is a deep golden yellow, turning lime green at maturity. Mature branches are dark brown with shedding bark. Flowers are white and not especially showy; fruit is reddish brown and persistent. Fall foliage color, lasting several weeks, is a deep bronze.

The Ninebark 'Diablo', Physocarpus opulifolius 'Diabolo', is a fast growing plant. It has deep burgundy leaves, and attractive white button-like blooms in summer. "Diabolo" is easy to grow and is very hardy and can tolerate a wide range of conditions. It is tolerant of many soils, preferring a well drained site. It will take some shade but will exhibit the best color in full sun. The 'Diablo', would be an excellent plant in back of the perennial garden or in mixed in shrub borders. The flowers and foliage are great for cutting. This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. It is drought-tolerant and is suitable for xeriscaping. All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested.
